NIP high schools to be colleges

The New Ireland Provincial Executive Council (PEC) has approved a number of policies to be implemented this year.

One policy is for the conversion of all high schools to secondary schools in 2016, with the intention of renaming all as colleges.

Other policy papers were for the establishment of a provincial election steering committee, New Ireland Provincial Administration restructure, land portions in Kavieng town and the composition and funding for a working committee for the Provincial Council of Women.

Last Tuesday the provincial implementation committee (PIC) and the PEC met and discussed the policies.

Also last week New Ireland Officials concluded an exhaustive schedule of meetings with National Departmental heads, ministers and other key stakeholders in Port Moresby.

The meeting was to help local politicians and public servants understand how the public service at Waigani operated.
