New mobile police barracks for Yangoru

The National Executive Council has approved funding to start construction on the Mobile Police Barracks for Yangoru-Saussia District in East Sepik Province.

Construction will start earlier next year.  

Local MP and Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry Richard Maru revealed today that the “K18.2 million for Mobile Barracks in Yangoru Station was approved by NEC last week.

“Details will be released once the Governor-General signs the contract will the constructor.”

A delighted local MP thanked the National Government and added that 45 police officers stationed in the district will provide security to the province, the Frieda River project, Sepik Special Economic Zone and security to the PNG and Indonesia border because of its proximity.

Maru added that the road to the police barracks and Yangoru Station has being sealed, and a new  water supply system will complement the new police barracks, which will be the first for the district.
