New hotel predicted to steal the show

The event to attend on August 20 is the inaugural PNG Fashion Week (PNGFW) but the venue of the event may steal the limelight.

The event and the venue are both new kids in their respective blocks, and with as much interest expressed for PNGFW, many will use this opportunity to see the Stanley Hotel and Suites.

PNGFW director, Janet Sios, last week during a media conference even admitted this to the general manager, Geoff Haigh.

“We’ve spoken to a lot of people and they’re coming to this event because they’re interested to see your hotel.”

This may in fact be the first big local event to be staged in the new hotel.

“By the time PNG Fashion Week, it will be about three weeks,” Haigh said, referring to commencement of business operations.

“We pride ourselves in our conference and events facilities and we’ll do everything we can to make this a success for you, which will make it a success for us.

“We’re very proud to be associated with PNG Fashion Week and I hope you all will enjoy your time and night here. I’m sure it will be an outstanding event.”

The Stanley Hotel and Suites is currently in its soft opening period and set for a grand opening in September.

According to eHotelier Academy, standing 18-storeys high, this brand new luxury facility offers 433-rooms, including 99 serviced apartments and a 340-square-metre presidential suite located on the 18th floor.

State-of-the-art facilities include a 60-seat, fine dining grill-style restaurant, a split-level executive club lounge, more than 2,000 square metres of function space and the largest ballroom in PNG at 1,600 square metres.

Added to this is a lobby level, cafe-style restaurant and a lounge bar offering all-day dining, a 3,000-square-metre outdoor area and pool deck on level four, a gym and a full day spa with five large treatment rooms and a hot tub.
