New Caledonia beat PNG 1-0 in men’s soccer

PNG suffered a 1-0 loss to favourites New Caledonia in the main game of today’s Pacific Games men’s soccer competition.

PNG started strong and had most of the opportunities to score but just could not find the back of the net.

Chances for PNG’s Patrick Aisa and John Ray went begging.

The next half of play saw New Caledonia turn the tide and go on the offensive thoroughly dominating possession.

The deadlock was finally broken midway through the second half when Nathanel Hmaen slotted in the game breaker.

With the pressure now on PNG, tensions flared as PNG struggled to get back into the game but the New Caledonian backline held off until the final whistle.
