Meninga set to throw a cat amongst the pigeons

Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga is set to throw a cat amongst the pigeons in Australia’s first Four Nations match against Scotland.

According to News Corp, Meninga is set to name Matt Moylan, Jake Trbojevic, Jake Friend, Justin O’Neill and James Maloney to make their international debuts against Scotland next weekend.

The Aussie coach is keen to give his entire 24-man squad a run before the pointy end of the tournament, given the Kangaroos’ one-off Test against the Kiwis last weekend.

Aaron Woods and Josh Mansour are also expected to take their places in the side following their respective weddings last weekend.

Meninga is trialling the players against the weakest side in the tournament in order to gain a better idea of who he thinks is in the best 17 before they come up against New Zealand and England.

“I’ve always said I will give all our players an opportunity to play,” Meninga said via News Corp

“We played what I thought was our Test team against New Zealand so all the other players will get an opportunity against Scotland for sure.

“I’m looking forward to all of them and putting a bit of internal pressure on players. That’s a good, healthy thing.”
