The Melbourne Cup - a once a year race that stops the nation is set to take punters and bookies by storm tomorrow.

The Melbourne Cup which has become a big betting bonanza over the years for the professional punter also has its share of ‘once a year punters’ who throw in a wager just for the fun of it.

However, to the hardened punter it is the ultimate race which must be won at all cost … at least according to the tips that are offered.

But the reality will set in when the race is run and winner is known.

With the Melbourne Cup every contender can win whether it is the favourite or an outsider given they get the chance to make it.

The field of 24 raises hopes of every punter as well as the Bookies while in the racing stables the owners of the horse, the trainer and its connections.

The day will be hectic and if you are thinking of placing a bet… go early and get it over and done with before the crowds and especially the hardened punters get in.

And  in case you make have forgotten, last year winner for the first time was a female jockey – Michelle Payne who rode Prince of Penzance winning $3,600,000. It was not even a favourite.

To all who are thinking of taking part all the best and we hope you will do well.
