Maru boosts power for Yangoru

Yangoru-Saussia District Development Authority has presented another K100, 000 to PNG Power Ltd for its electrification program.

DDA Chairman and Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry Richard Maru when presenting the cheque said the district has invested K3 million on PNG Power Limited's power grid extension work under PPL's rural electrification program.

"This investment is in addition to the power gridline extension from Passam to the township of Yangoru, where Wreak sells power all the way to Winge 2 which is only 15 minutes’ drive out of Maprik," says Maru.

"We have been improving and widening PPL's customer base at our cost and we are still at it.

"We have no intention to stop this investment in the immediate future.

"The presentation of another K100, 000 confirms our commitment to give our people access to power," says Maru.

He said since the district is doing its part, PNG Power must also play its part and connect power to the district.

"And since we stand committed to and had been delivering on our side of the commitment to PPL, we need them to live up to their calling as the nation's power supply company.

"The poor services in East Sepik are a shameful indication of the performance of the current board and management of PNG Power Limited."
