Manus MP fights different drought danger with bare hands

The prolonged drought in Manus has created another danger that was not foreseen by many. And that is the aggregation of thirsty, hungry crocodiles around remnants of rivers and creeks.

Fortunately, Manus Open MP Ronnie Knight is an expert crocodile hunter. In the photo, he is holding onto a trapped crocodile at the Yiri river on the West Coast of Manus.

Mr Knight has been involved in hunting crocodiles to mitigate the risk of attacks. The drought continues in most parts of the province.

"They are aggregating around water holes and what is left of rivers and creeks, endangering people who look for water," Mr Knight said.
