Man pleads guilty to Necrophilia (sex with the dead)

A man from Milne Bay Province today pleaded guilty before the Waigani National Court for interfering with the corpse of a female at the Port Moresby General Hospital in October of 2014.

Patrick Paul Kaulela (42) today pleaded guilty before Deputy Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika to sexually interfering with a corpse.

Kaulela after pleading guilty had the case of Necrophilia against him discharged as he had already served his punishable time in custody.

He was arrested on Oct 29, 2014 and charged under section 236 (b) of the Criminal Code for indecently interfering with a corpse. A charge that is punishable for a term not exceeding two years.

He was kept in custody for a total of one- year-eight months and finally released today when his case was discharged.

Working as a hospital porter (then) at the hospital he pleaded guilty that he attempted to sexually penetrate the corpse of a female deceased on Oct 23, 2014 who was the victim of a hit and run accident at the Poreporena Freeway.

Necrophilia is the sexual attraction, desire or sexual act involving corpses. A desire to have sex with dead people may stem from an intense fear of rejection.
