While people all over the nation are in celebration mood for the 41st anniversary for Independence Day, there is one venue ready to steal the show.
Little known Lanes 10-Pin bowling alley is set to bring on a new and competitive edge to sports and entertainment in Papua New Guinea.
Lanes is the new venue which was trialled with a few games last Friday at the Glitzy new-look Lamana Hotel in Port Moresby.
Already there is high interest for individuals and groups queuing up for take part in this new sports or entertainment craze that is about hit Port Moresby.
“We did launched the Lanes last Friday. Well, I won’t say it’s a launch … we trialled it out. And already interest is growing,” said an excited Yiannis Nicolaou, General Manager of Lamana Hotels.
Lanes at Lamana might be little known but that won’t be for long.
“We are hoping to launch in two weeks time,” Nicolaou said about the Lanes 10-Pin bowling alley.
The Lanes opens at 11am each day and so far only singles games have been played, but Nicolau is quietly confident that things will turn around quickly when word gets around.
Being in the hotel business for more than a decade, Nicolaou can feel it when a good thing is about to connect.
“ We have six bowling alleys, and right now we have only seen singles matches being played, but we are hoping that over the news few weeks we hope to have corporate games,” Nicolaou said.
“There are two corporate groups who have said they are interested in playing, but they have not registered yet, “ said Nicolaou
The Lanes is situated on the upper level of a glitzy new- look Lamana Hotel with its transparent glass doors and walls and shiney tiles. But as Nicolaou says, “ we are still under construction.”
For a first timer, the Lanes bowling alley will surprise you. In fact, it will blow you away. It has six bowling lanes where singles games can be played or a group competition that can take place using all six allies.
For anyone needing a drink you don’t have to go to the bar to order, there is a machine set up where you can place your order and the bar tenders will deliver. Now that’s service taken to whole new level, only at Lamana.
