Kuman says university students have failed themselves

Education Minister Nick Kuman says university students had failed themselves by boycotting classes.

“Fight a fight that is good for you and your welfare; fight a fight that is good for this country.

“This Government has spent more in 89 districts in health, education and infrastructures in the last three years.

“This means this government has worked so hard.

“You have disturbed your own academic life, failing your parents and sponsors,” Kuman said.

However, the Education Minister is urging the University of Papua New Guinea Academic Senate to reconsider the termination of its 2016 teaching and learning programs.

“As the Minister for Education I will fight tooth the nail at the Cabinet level to ensure that those institutions must allow students to continue, if it means that you have to go right through to December and January next year you must go,” Kuman said.

“What is wrong with UPNG, your mess has not been destroyed; your building link to academic life had not been destroyed. You have to go through the same academic calendar if the two universities are going back to classes, I urge UPNG to open its doors to students to return to class.
