Kavo says to withdraw logging operator from Gulf

Gulf Governor Havila Kavo has announced that the major operator of logging, Rimbunan Hijau (RH Limited), will be withdrawn.

“We will not entertain RH to do our logging here in Gulf,” he said during Kerema’s Independence Day celebrations last Friday.

“We want good managers of our resources, funds, public servants must be loyal and committed to the people, ensure they are able to go to the remote areas to work with the people.

“We will not sit back and beg or bespectators in our own land, we must stand up.

“Protect your land, resources, children and don’t sell your land cheaply, we are more than able to build our own kingdom. We have a wealth that is able to build this province,” the two term Governor spoke to a record four thousand crowd.

Kavo further stressed that there will be a check-point at the border of Central and Gulf provinces starting next month.

He said this is to ensure all vehicles entering Gulf province should have Gulf emblem.

“We will set up check-points in every borders that share borders with Gulf province so that no unwanted vehicles and people can enter Gulf to exploit our resources,” he said.

Kavo was in the province to celebrate the 41st independence anniversary with his people and also to inspect and monitor some of his projects, funded under the Provincial Services Improvement Program (PSIP).

He took a plane ride to Kantiba, Ihu, Baimuru, Kikori and Malalaua.
