Israelis to spend K40m for Sepik industrial park

An Israeli company has completed a feasibility study to start an agriculture industrial park in the Yangoru Sausia district of East Sepik Province.

The company will be a special guest at the SME Day on Friday in the district.

The park, when completed, will create 300 jobs and will require an initial investment of K40 million.

Special guests at the SME Day include, the Secretary for the Department of National Planning, Hakaura Harry, Deputy Secretary for Finance, Sam Penias, Secretary for Department of Trade Commerce & Industry John Andrias, managing director for NDB Moses Liu, acting managing director for the SME Corp, Henry Marasembi, Israeli Company, Innovative Agro Industry, Ilan Weiss, representatives from Melanesian Trustee Services Limited, Peoples Micro Bank’s CEO, Anthony Della Cruz and his staff among others.

Meanwhile the people in the district are excited and glad that the priority is now given to  empowering them to start or expand the loan scheme where individuals can obtain loans from a minimum of K1000.00 to a maximum loan of K20,000.00 in the first 12 months of the Credit Scheme which is to be launched this Friday.

The highlight of the SME Day will be:

Launch of the Yangoru-Saussia District Credit Scheme;

The distribution of the first cocoa seedlings program under the District Free Cocoa seedling programme; and

All banks are already setting up stalls in Yangoru station to show their products during the SME Day.

The People’s Micro Bank has also spent one week in all the four  LLGs in the district to open accounts for potential business and individuals who want to save in order to qualify for the District Credit Scheme.
