The SP PNG Hunters had a narrow win over Blackhawks thanks to a field goal from Ase Boas.
Boas kicked the field goal 14 seconds to full time after the score was leveled at 10-10.
Hunters were behind at half time, 10-6, but got back on track following their second try from Justin Olam 16 minutes to full time to level the score 10-10.
The first 40 minutes of the game saw a late try from Willie Minoga help Townsville Blackhawks take lead at half time 10-6.
Minoga was taken off the bench 18 minutes to half time when the score was 6-4. He scored a late try four minutes to half time to put his team in front 10-6 after a successful conversion.
The first 15 minutes was tough for both teams as they struggled to score.
Adam Korave made the breakthrough for Hunters scoring 17 minutes into the game to put Hunters in front 6-0 after a successful conversion from captain Noel Zeming.
It was a physical game with hard tackles. Blackhawks fought hard and scored their first try 6-4 through Rhyse Martin seven minutes to half time.
Minoga's try was the second for Blackhawks extending their score to lead 10-6 at half time.
The second half was intense but a try from Hunters and the one point field goal took the home team to victory.
