Hoskins Secondary students told to pay project fee

Hoskins Secondary School management this morning informed parents and students registering and new enrolments to return on Wednesday.

School official,  Josepha Tonar  who spoke on behalf of the Deputy Principal said project fees for this year  would be K400.

Tonar said K200 was for uniforms and K200 would be  for a new school fence project.

Students were advised that those continuing Grades 10 and 12 are to pay up and commence classes, while new enrollments for  grade 9 and 11 will be properly sorted by midweek. Teachers will have to confirm all student - teacher ratio and allocation of students  in class before the academic year goes into full swing.

Meanwhile Tonar also advised that the school has received  petition from the landowners of Kwalakesse village, seeking K600,000 as compensation for a youth, Tobith Tao who lost his life some weeks ago. She mentioned that Police from Kimbe are conducting investigations now and will advice the Board of Governors and School Administration when it  is completed.

Queried on the recent social media outburst about school charging  students for certificates was a normal procedure done annually for students to fully pay any outstanding fees owed to  the school in relation to school fees or for any damage done to school property during their year in school. She said no one at the School was benefiting from those fees.

These are  money that belong to the school.

Grades 9 and 11 students are required to bring with them copies of their school certificates and acceptance letters. All school fee deposits should be attached together for enrolling on Wednesday.

Continuing students must also bring copies of deposit butts confirming payments when registering.
