Hekari FC and Dwellers brace for grand final

MRDC Hekari United FC and Lae City Dwellers are set to battle it out for the Telikom National Soccer Champions League grand final on Saturday.

The game will kick off at 3pm at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.

This is Hekari’s 11th grand final match while Dwellers have done very well to reach the grand final stage in their first two seasons.

Dwellers team manager Peter Sesk said the Lae side is preparing well for this game.

“As minor premiers Hekari proved their worth and we as defending champions we are ready to play as champions and defend the title,” said Sesk.

Hekari team manager Vonnie Kappinato praised Dwellers for playing very well throughout the season.

She encouraged Dwellers to keep their heads up for this grand final and also the OFC Champions League starting in April at New Zealand where both teams will participate.

“Hekari players are looking forward to the game and we know it will be very tough as Dwellers have a lot of good players so we will not take this game lightly,” she said.

With a  few injuries, Kappinato said it will not be easy but the team is ready for that both mentally and physically.

She added that only the team that works hard, is disciplined and patient on the field will win the grand final.

The game will be telecast live on EMTV with gates to open at 12pm and close at 4pm.

Tickets are being sold at Telikom outlets at Boroko, Vision City and Telikom Rumana. They are selling at K10 for outer stand, K20 for outer grandstand and K50 for main grandstand.
