HB shooting update: Investigators move into village

Investigators of the Hanuabada shootings have gone into the village over the weekend and started the investigation process by talking to witnesses.

Acting Director of Crimes Moses Ibsagi tells PNG Loop that he and his team went into the village on Saturday in light of the bullet casing shells that were handed to them by a villager.

He says that they managed to talk with the female villager who handed over the evidence and to speak with the youth who initially picked up the evidence.

Director Ibsagi says that while they were supposed to go back yesterday (Monday 26th October) the men were pulled out to provide support to handling  the tensions at Unagi Oval and the public protests.

Ibsagi says that the focus will be on his team to ensure that all witnesses are reviewed against their initial statements while he welcomes new witnesses to also come forward.

He is confident that his personnel will make progress given the manner in which they have been received so far by the villagers who are eager to help them in their investigations.

Meantime, Ibsagi commended the villagers for their fast response to the investigators and says that with an initial one month deadline he needs all relevant parties to be on board in order to ensure that investigations go smoothly.
