HB shooting: Police warn against hidden agenda’s

Police investigators have called on all representative groups in the Hanuabada shooting case to exercise caution when commenting on aspects of the case.

Director of crimes, Moses Ibsagi tells PNG Loop that the police have been working with the immediate family of the two deceased men Nicholas Rarua and Toka Gaudi as well as several other key witnesses.

He says that despite the ongoing critics as well as the complaints about the work that is being carried by his officers the families of the two men that were shot have maintained a close working relationship with them.

Ibsagi commended the families of the two men who have been corporative and understanding to allowing his investigators to get the job done and allow justice to be served.

He warned other interest groups to be mindful of the families of the two deceased men and allow for the police to carry out the investigation to allow their loved ones some justice.

Ibsagi also appeals to the other groups both locally in the village outside to help the police by coming forward and creating a dialogue facilitating for a round table discussion to find a way forward.

This is a more conducive method to help the case rather than pre-empting the case and fuelling fires that will not help the case.

Ibsagi says that such complex investigations takes time that requires patience, perseverance, and commitment and it is not as simple

This case also involves police officers, which IBsagi says they must tread carefully as they do not want to charge a person who will go to court only to have case thrown due to slack case work on the part of the investigators.

Meantime, another ironic issue that Ibsagi highlights is that despite all the critics and complaints that seem to come about,  the only people that have been willing to cooperate with the police are the parents and immediate families of the shooting victims.

Most of the vocal groups have not done much in terms of helping facilitate for the police work to be carried out.

He called on people complaining to come forward and offer constructive help in the interest of the case instead of playing on people’s emotions.
