Gurias lead 16-8 at break

The Rabaul Agmark Gurias are leading the Simbu TNA Lions 16-8 at half time in the grand final of the 2015 Digicel Cup at the Sir John Guise stadium.

The Gurias went on the attack minutes from kick off and got their first chance to get points on the board after a Lions player was penalized for a high shot.

But the kick from Watson Boas hit the post and bounced favorably back to the Gurias who spread the ball out to wing for John Ragi Junior to score.

The kicking duties were handed to Jason Missian who added the extras.

The Lions registered their first points from the boot of Enoch Sine who converted a penalty from right in front of the posts.

But the Gurias responded right away when a good run metres out from the try line by Pidi Tongap saw him offload to Nelson Daplen to cross over.

Missian added two more points from the kick for the Gurias to lead 12-2.

The Gurias pace and ability to spread the ball out to wing quickly allowed them more points when center Edward Goma shrugged off five Lions defenders to score.

Missian could not make it three from three with his kick sailing away to put the score at 16-2.

Right from the restart is where the Lions hit back.

A dropped ball allowed Brian Gispe to pick up and run 50 metres to score.

The conversion from Sine was successful to put the Lions back in contention.

This gave the Lions more confidence as they denied the Gurias more chances to score.
