Gulf Isapea register win over Waghi Tumbe

Gulf Isapea has registered another win in the Digicel Cup 2015 season.

The home team defeated visiting team Waghi Tumbe 10-6 today in round 14 at the Murray Barracks oval.

Isapea proved too strong scoring two tries over Tumbe’s one try in the second half.

Isapeas were the first to score from a corner try 25 minutes into the game through full back Junior Arova thanks to a set up pass by five eighth Junior Belo.

This followed an unsuccessful conversion kick by Belo leaving the score 4-0 at half time.

Tumbe struggled in the first half, not completing their sets of six  and their ball handling was very poor with a lot of dropped balls.

Isapea continued to dominate the game, scoring another try half way through the second half through left winger John Bonny. A successful conversion by Belo put the home team way in front 10-0.

Tumbe bounced back with a try five minutes later through Robert Koronus followed by a successful conversion 10-6.

In other games, Mendi Muruks defeated Rabaul Gurias 18-14 in Mendi, Hela Wigmen were defeated by Goroka Lahanis 23-22 in Goroka and home team Eagles beat Port Moresby Vipers 12-8 in Hagen.

In Lae, with a home crowd advantage, Snax Tigers defeated competition leaders TNA Lions 22-10.
