Gulf Day turns out a disappointment

Today has been a disappointment for all Gulf residents in Port Moresby.

What is meant to be the Gulf Day has turned out to be a disappointing one for those who turned up at the Coronation Primary School this morning.

According to a poster circulated on Facebook, September 18 - Gulf Provincial Day promised traditional dances, live band performances, traditional food at stalls, Gulf merchandise and more.

However, hundreds of people from Gulf and friends who turned up to celebrate the provincial day have been left confused outside a locked school gate since  this morning.

Loop PNG arrived on the scene at about 11:30am to a huge crowd stretching from Paddy's Bar along the Hagwa Street.

A group told Loop PNG they had been at the venue all morning but have not been addressed by any organisers to say if the event has been cancelled.

Loop PNG did not see any traditional singsing groups on site but proud Mori’s and Soso’s carrying their provincial flags with painted faces and confused looks.
