Guina: Service delivery is reaching the districts

A lot of change has happened since Papua New Guinea gained Independence in 1975, with service delivery reaching the districts and local level governments.

Acting secretary for the Department of Provincial and Local Level Government Affairs (DPLLGA), Dickson Guina, revealed that the bulk of government funding is now going to the districts level.

Guina said the current Government has given more funding to districts, unlike in the past.

The bulk of the money is going there because service delivery is very critical.

“We are working together with other national agencies and partner agencies in ensuring that service delivery down at the district is effective.

“We have seen some of the remote districts in the country, like Teleformin present what they’re doing in terms of infrastructure and other services that are going on in the districts.

“It’s really a complete change in the country, there’s a lot of change happening in the districts, there’s a lot of good things happening,” Guina said.

He added that the DPLLGA is making sure that services are effectively delivered to the communities.
