Good Samaritan helps injured students

The five critically injured youths from the Hawain accident in Wewak, East Sepik will have medical attention brought to them, thanks to a kind hearted sponsor.

Koren Maso, is the good Samaritan who forked out money from his own pocket to save the survivors of the December 28, 2015 accident which claimed four lives when the vehicle  in which Seventh Day Adventist tertiary students were travelling in overturned near Hawain bridge.

The students were returning from a church gathering at Aitape in West Sepik Province.

“My heart was broken and I was lost for words to speak to our students on their hospital bed in pain they received while on a mission to do good community service work.

“I don’t want to lose any more precious souls and potential leader of our country so I bypassed the working committee members and made a decision to sponsor five tickets for the critical ones to Port Moresby General Hospital.

“However yesterday, Wewak General Head of Surgeon Dr Jenny Tove at Boram Hosiptal said we cannot fly five students this week to Port Moresby due to bed shortage at Port Moresby General Hospital.

“I went back and talked to Dr Jenny if we can fly the Chief Surgeon from POMGH  to Boram Hospital and she confirmed it’s the best idea if we are happy to arrange the airfare and three nights accommodation and his travelling allowance.

“I told Dr Tove I will take care of all that costs so today the Chief Surgeon is on the flight to Wewak now.

“All the broken bones will be operated on here at Boram for the bone implant, students with liver and spleen damage will fly  to POMGen when the doctors from Boram Hospital give clearance in two weeks’ time as early flight will cause further damage to them,” Maso said.
