Games police reinforcements heading home

Police from other regions who were deployed to Port Moresby during the Pacific Games returned to their destinations today.

The repatriation exercise started over the weekend and will continue until the weekend.

Police from Momase, Highlands and New Guinea Islands, comprising of 10 each, were deployed for three weeks  during the 2015 Pacific Games.

The Games ended over the weekend.

The Morobe police were warmly received by Lae police boss Chief Superintendent Iven Lakatani on Monday.

He said they had experienced a new working environment for the past 21 days and it was great to get  them back to Lae and Morobe.

Many of those officers, like many other Papua New Guineans, enjoyed the Games and thanked all who participated to ensure the safety and security of everyone.

They said they were deployed at various venues of the Games and enjoyed their stay in the nation's capital.

The Mobile Squads (MS) from the regions will be the last groups of police who will return to their home bases.
