Four men lost at sea return to Buka

The four Bougainvilleans who went adrift at sea have returned home yesterday to a rousing welcome from friends and family.

After a long delay with visa and passport  issues, they are now safe at home .

They were also met at the airport by member for Tonsu, Ezekiel Massat,  member for Selau Joe Watawi and North Bougainville National member Louta Atoi.

Member Atoi  came with the boys on their Port Moresby to Buka route after the stranded ones came  all the way from the Federated States of Micronesia. (FSM)

In welcoming them home, the member for Tonsu, Ezekiel Masat told them that they were lucky to be alive and not to repeat the same mistake again.

The six were travelling a short distance from Manob to Tsunpets during strong winds and drifted out to sea.  Two boys jumped off to try to swim to the shores and did not make it.

“You people are so lucky to be alive and please what you have done was so dangerous and you mustn’t repeat those same mistakes again,” Mr Massat said

Mr Atoi also told the boys to learn from this mistake and not to repeat it.
