ExxonMobil is major sponsor for PNG Cancer Foundation

PNG Cancer Foundation (PNGCF) is pleased to announce ExxonMobil PNG Limited, operator of the PNG LNG Project, as the major sponsor of the PNGCF Free Screening and Cancer Awareness programs in PNG.

This is the second year ExxonMobil PNG is partnering with the PNGCF to assist with its provincial programs, the announcement of the partnership was made today in Port Moresby.

CEO of the PNGCF, Dadi Toka Jr said, “PNGCF conducts six Free Cancer Screening and Awareness programs per year enabling PNGCF to provide cancer education across PNG with information on mouth, breast and cervical cancers. This year, thanks to the partnership and support of ExxonMobil PNG, PNGCF will be conducting cancer awareness for the first time at the Papa and Lealea communities near the PNG LNG plant.

“We would like to thank ExxonMobil PNG for their continued support,” Toka Jnr said.

The PNG Institute of Medical Research estimates that 1 in 10 deaths in PNG are cancer-related. PNGCF was formed for the purpose of reducing the threat and impact of cancer in Papua New Guinea through successful education and prevention programs.

ExxonMobil PNG Managing Director Andrew Barry said “Our support to the PNGCF is one of ExxonMobil PNG’s many health partnerships that aim to support prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of PNG’s significant health challenges. We are proud to be partnering with the PNGCF again and look forward to supporting cancer awareness activities around the country.”
