Driver and passengers charged with drink offences

Central highway patrol this morning arrested a man and charged him for drinking and driving as well as permitting alcohol consumption in a moving vehicle.

Central police commander Laimo Asi says the man, aged 38, was drinking with two other men aged 23 and 29 when they were pulled over by police near the Kwikila station.

The two passengers will be charged with drinking alcohol in a moving vehicle.

The man was visibly under the influence of alcohol while his CRV car had a half empty 40oz bottle of rum and two empty 1litre coke bottles.

Police took all three men to the Kwikila police station where they were told to sleep off the effects of the alcohol.
