Divine Word to host Environment and safety symposium

Divine Word University’s Environmental Health Department will host the 3rd National Environment and Safety Symposium at the Madang campus on Sept 8, at the SVD Memorial Auditorium.

The theme of the symposium is “Let us work together to promote a healthy community and safety in PNG.”

Participants are expected to come from various minerals resources sector companies, agriculture and livestock as well as a number of provincial governments.

Chief Inspector of Mines from the Mineral Resources Authority, Lave Michael will be giving the keynote address whilst Secretary for Health Department Pascoe Kase will be the guest speaker.

Head of Department of Environmental Health Kari Totona says the purpose of the symposium is to bring together professionals involved in environment health and safety.

“The purpose of the symposium is to unite all concerned environmental health and safety professionals to work together to each and teach safety needs or issues in the PNG workforce,” Totona said.

Presentations are expected to educate the audience about safety and environmental issues and the measures required to address.

The day will start with the registration of individuals as per K250 per head at 7- 8am followed by the welcoming of guest at 8:30am.
