Digicel sets sights on future at Business Solutions Conference

Sixty of Digicel’s Senior Management and Business Solutions employees from the South Pacific joined forces in Brisbane on June 27-28 to attend Digicel’s inaugural Business Solutions Annual Conference, Digicel Business – Our Competitive Advantage.

The conference, which was held for Digicel Leaders in the Pacific Markets, was hosted by Gary Cobain, Head of Digicel Pacific ICT Business Solutions.

The two-day event served as a training platform for Digicel staff to increase their knowledge of business products and services to provide better solutions for Digicel’s business customers.

Gary Cobain said the conference focused on increasing awareness of the benefits technology can deliver for businesses across the South Pacific region including greater efficiencies and increased productivity.

“Digicel is a leader when it comes to providing IT and telecommunications services to customers in PNG, Fiji, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga and Nauru,” he said.

“The conference discussed Digicel Business’ mission which is to offer our customers new network centric Information Communication Technology (ICT) services and solutions that support their business requirements and help solve real business issues.”

Gary said the delegates were taken through training and development needs, product development and the FY17 marketing approach.

“Our people are very important to Digicel and it is through training, developing, and empowering them that we expect to double our business over the next three years.

“We see a great opportunity to increase the broadband penetration in the Pacific, which can play a huge role in boosting local economies.

“Digicel provides more internet services to businesses in PNG than any other organisation and the conference was a great opportunity to share the many PNG business success stories.”

During the conference, delegates had the opportunity to learn from Digicel Business colleagues from the Caribbean and Central America, Regional Senior Executives, Digicel Business Managers and guest speakers.

The presenters discussed the importance of increasing technology in the South Pacific by investing in offshore fibre technology, introducing broadband and collaborating with Governments to help enable small and medium enterprises to reach their potential.

The conference also had an interactive component with PNG ICT service provider, AllcomMcr presenting the power of virtualisation and mobility of their network and integration of systems solutions. AllcomMcr is 100% owned by Digicel. Ericsson, Huawei, Samsung and GX2 also highlighted their global trend products and innovations.

Conference guest speaker Vince Schirippa, Group General Manager of IT for Toyota Tsusho South Pacific, said he has experienced exceptional customer care from Digicel.

“Since partnering with Digicel Business Solutions we have seen a dramatic change in our network and communication channels with benefits seen throughout the business.

“We hope to see Digicel as a business partner, not only a solution for today but a part of the future,” said Schirippa.

Digicel CEO, Michael Murphy, said the inaugural Business Solutions Annual Conference was a great success.

“In order to succeed as a business solution provider, Digicel’s staff, systems and customer care must be exceptional,” he said.

“We are continuing to expand our core business products including, mobile, fixed, voice and data services and the introduction of Cloud Services. There is great opportunity to make these services and products more widely available across the South Pacific.”
