Digicel Cup teams have chance to promote franchise

Digicel Cup franchised teams have now been given a chance to promote their clubs, players and franchised owners through the media by NRL PNG and the naming rights sponsors of the game Digicel PNG.

The NRL PNG and Digicel will give chances to the each of the other nine Digicel Cup participating teams apart from the Gulf Isapea’s and the Port Moresby Vipers to play at the newly furnished stadium, the National Football Stadium.

The teams will be given the chance to travel, play in other provinces and get the feel of the environment and also promote their teams through the media coverage of each visiting team in the city.

During the games to be hosted in the city, the visiting teams will get the chance to have post-media conferences before and after the games to speak and promote their sponsors and moreover, get to promote the game in the country.

Fans and supporters around the country will also get a chance to watch their favourite Digicel Cup players as they promote their teams through their support.

The PNG NRL Administrator Stanley Hondina told the media this afternoon at a press conference that it is  the way that PNG NRL and the naming right sponsors of the competition Digicel PNG are trying to move forward and promote the game as well as promoting teams, their sponsors and the players.

“Rugby League is a family oriented game and we want to make it a more family thing for Papua New Guineans to take time out to come and relax and watch the game as we promote this National League in the country,” Hondina said.

“In doing so we will be largely involving the media to promote the competition and making sure the teams feel comfortable in talking about the team and their games to the media so we can promote league Nationwide,” he added.

Moreover, Hondina also elaborated that with more of the Digicel Cup players getting into the Hunters team, we can promote more of the Digicel Cup players through promoting the league and the players of teams.

Further added that they are working with the Hunters management to involve Hunters’ players who are omitted off team for each game to also go back to their Digicel Cup franchised and play to encourage build the standard of the league.
