Cricket PNG Board today hosted a welcome back luncheon at the Port Moresby Cricket Haus Balcony, congratulating the CPL PNG Lewas for their victory in qualifying for the world cup qualifiers next year in England.
Cricket PNG general manager, Greg Campbell, praised the PNG Lewas on their performance during the EAP qualifiers. Lewas proved to be undefeated, ending the host team Samoa on their home soil to qualify.
“It was an extraordinary performance and I would like to congratulate all the team players and the officials on the victory,” Campbell said.
He also extended his thanks to the major sponsors, City Pharmacy Limited, for their huge support in sponsoring the team and also the relevant stakeholder Pure Water Limited.
Captain of the PNG Lewas team, Pauke Siaka, also thanked her team mates for the wonderful achievement and urged them to look forward for the major qualifier next year.
The Lewas have now officially qualified for the World Cup Qualifier in England next year to play against some of the world’s women’s best cricket teams like Zimbabwe and Scotland.
