Comedian Kanage amuses audience at DWU Open Day

PNG’s comedian Alphonse Dirau popularly known as “Kanage” made his presence felt at the Divine Word University Open Day on Sunday, May 1, 2016.

Kanage was again at his amusing best with his funny gestures as he stood out doing promotion for PNG’s first provincial television station called Tumbuna TV based in Madang.

He was still as his best with his jokes and funny gestures which attracted many onlookers。 A good number of people posed for photographs with the comedian when this writer caught up with him at the Tumbuna TV exhibit stall。

Kanage was a hit in the mid 2000 with his funny acts and amusements which made him so popular on TV commercials for biscuit company Lae Biscuits

He started his acting career with the Maborasa Theatre group then went on to joined the National Performing Art Troupe in Goroka. He rose to the limelight when he was spotted by former MP for Anglimp South-Whagi, Jamie Maxtone-Graham who engaged him in Eda Ranu commercials。

Dirau, who comes from Mikarep in the Bogia district of Madang said he is happy to be back in Madang and it was a privileged for him to be engaged by Tumbuna TV, Madang’s first television station to do promotions for them.
