Cardinal Sir John Ribat receives Queens Award

Politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, public servants and other Papua New Guineans have been honoured in the 2016 Queens Honours List for services to their communities.

Yesterday a supplementary list and outstanding recipients of the awards were present at Government House to receive their long service awards for their distinguished service to the community through their significant contribution to the country.

Among the 30 recipients was the Minister for Health and  HIV/AIDS and the Moresby North-West MP Michael Malabag, PNG’s first cardinal and Catholic Archbishop Cardinal Sir John Ribat and NCD Central Police Commander Sylvester Kalaut who were also at the occasion to receive their service award.

The Health Minister in the Most Excellent Order of British Empire to be commander of the Civil Division (CBE) was honored for service to the electoral commission, the Public Employees Association and the community as a Minister of National Parliament as Minister for Health.

Catholic Archbishop Cardinal Sir John Ribat was honoured in the Most Excellent Order of British Empire to be Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) was honoured for service to the catholic churches, service to the community and the country.

NCD Central police commander Sylvester Kalaut in the Most Excellent Order of British Empire to be British Empire Medal (BEM) was honored for service to the Royal Police Constabulary and service to the community.

Other distinguished Papua New Guineans are recognised as Officers of the Order of the British Empire, (OBE), Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and British Empire Medal (BEM).
