Captains in town for Digicel Cup launch

Team captains of all 11 competing clubs will arrive in Port Moresby this weekend for the official launch of the 2016 Digicel Cup season, which is being held on Monday 11 April at the Laguna Hotel.

Digicel Cup 2016 captains Nelson Daplen (Agmark Rabaul Gurias), John Gand (Bintangor Goroka Lahanis), Rex Yalon (Enga Mioks), David Lapua (Hela Wigmen), Roya Kela (Lae Snax Tigers), Issac Mel (Mendi Muruks) and Danny Aaron (Mt. Hagen Eagles) will arrive in Port Moresby on Sunday.

They will join Port Moresby based captains Samuel Koim (SNS Port Moresby Vipers), Jolam Jerry (TNA Simbu Lions) and Joda Wesley (Waghi Tumbe) to launch the season.

Digicel will host the official launch with the PNGNRL board and franchise members as well as Government dignitaries.

The highlight of the night will be the unveiling of the home and away game jerseys by the team captains.

Digicel Play’s footy show Fan Zone will film their show at the launch with interviews from team captains, franchise owners, Government stakeholders and major sponsors. Fan Zone will be televised during the week on TV WAN.

The Digicel Cup season is set to kick off with round one on Sunday 17 April.
