Cancer foundation to host cancer awareness workshops

The PNG Cancer Foundation (PNGCF) will run free workshops on breast and cervical cancer this month with the public invited to attend.

The free Pinktober workshops will be held at the Royal Papua Yacht Club in Port Moresby on Oct 10 and the 17th.

The workshop aim was to reduce the threat and impact of cancer through education and prevention programs.

The workshops will be conducted by a PNGCF health educator, explaining what cancer is, how to recognise early signs and symptoms and how you can protect yourself from the disease.

PNGCF Marketing & Fundraising Manger, Hayley Chown said the workshops are important as current statistics show that two women die every day in PNG because of cervical cancer.

“We encourage you to come and be educated for free on breast and cervical cancer during the women’s cancer awareness month of October,” Chown said.

Interested participants can register by emailing events@cancerfoundation.org.pg or through Facebook.

Hayley thanked sponsors, Royal Papua Yacht Club, JM Ocean Avenue, Moore Printing and DHL for actively being involved in the work of the Foundation.
