Callan Services launches its first website

The Callan Services in Papua New Guinea launched its new website this week.

The launching was done by the assistant to the Acting Deputy Secretary Tony Mong on Monday.

Callan Services was established by the Christian Brothers of PNG in 1991 and over the past two decades has led the way in building services for people with disabilities.

The website will embrace the services vision to improve communication between health care and education resources centers and to improve levels of access to vital and important information for people living with disability in areas in PNG lacking awareness and information.

Administrator of the website Patrick Hikins of the Callan Services National Unit says the Callan Services network has expanded to establish education and healthcare centers including rehabilitation centers in all 19 provinces in PNG and is just a start to get people involved to be trained to work with people with physical, sensory and mental disability.

He adds that he wants them to use this network through learning from each other, and sharing with others overseas about Callan Services work and hopefully enter into a dialogue with others who have experience in this kind of work in similar circumstances around the world.

The national unit is headed by Kevin Ryan and Callan Services also address social disadvantage, promotes specialist health services and mounts disability prevention programs in rural communities.
