Businesswoman: Small business continue to face hardship

Papua New Guineans doing small businesses continue to face hardship in getting financial loans to grow their business.

The owner and managing director of After Dark Fashions Katleen Ipi Johnson says getting loans from financial institution has always hindered many small business people to grow.  

“We struggled; access to finance is a problem.

“The equity is very high the small people cannot afford that, we (the Government) talk about creating SME policy but we do not have the capital to start off with.”  

A successful business woman, who has been doing business in the tailoring industry for the last 12 years is now embarking on building a K10 million textile and garment factory in Port Moresby.

The Central Province lady is encouraging women entrepreneurs to network as the way forward to receive support and be successful.
