Karma died last night in a hospital in Manila.
He is understood to have been sick for some time.
Opposition Leader Don Polye offered his sympathies and condolence to the families and relative of late Karma.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill also expressed great sadness and says Karma served his people with honour and distinction.
“I always appreciated the honesty and genuine nature of the Late Steven Kamma and his commitment to ensuring that peace on Bougainville is permanent.
“Moving on from the conflict on Bougainville is a complex challenge, for which we need great minds and honest hearts, and Steven Kamma was both of these and we will mourn his loss,”
O’Neill offered on behalf of the government its deep condolences and hopes his family can seek solace in his achievements.
Arrangements are underway for the repatriation of Karma’s body back to PNG.
He was the former Minister for Bouganville Affairs and the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister on Constitutional Affairs until his death.
