Biggest Morning Tea launched at Pari Village backed by PNGCF

The annual Biggest Morning Tea (BMT) campaign organised by PNG Cancer Foundation was officially launched today in Pari Village, Central Province.

More than 50 women from Pari Women’s Fellowship attended the event and were also part of the cancer awareness conducted by PNGCF educator Sister Helen Hukula.

BMT campaign is a fun and easy way for communities, business houses, friends and family to come together over a cup of tea and start the conversation about cancer.

The campaign gives the people of PNG access to education and information on cancer awareness and prevention during the month of May.

PNGCF Chief Executive Officer Dadi Toka Jr said this is the first time they’ve launched this campaign in a village setting which signifies the direction we need to take in education and awareness.

Toka Jr said we need to start getting in contact with not just the urban setting but rural setting as well.

“The women were pleased to be part of the program not only the launch of the campaign but participate in the cancer awareness so they take something home with them.

“Registration is free so we encourage you to host your own Morning Tea to provide an avenue to education on cancer to your friends, families, communities and colleagues,” Toka Jr said.

Funds raised from this campaign will be used to educate the people of PNG on how to protect their families from cancer.

It will also be used to provide free cancer screening and workshops at various locations around the country, and work with partner organisations to improve cancer control across the country.
