Beach Volleyball technical officials set for Games

Twenty four beach volleyball technical officials are ready to take on the Pacific Games in 18 days.

Referees, line scorers, ball retrievers and sand levelers successfully completed a week training to up skill themselves.

The training provided an overview of the rules of the Game, protocols, medical, disputes, misconducts, philosophy of beach volleyball and working together in understanding how the Game is played.

Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) referees technical delegate Richard Casutt said they have a lot of experience which made it easy for them to understand the content of the training.

A statement by the Games Organising Committee said Casutt was pleased so far and has confidence that they will do a good work come Games time.

Casutt was also happy for the young officials who had been part of the training as they will introduce the sport across the country.

Beach volleyball is one of the new sports to be played at the XV Pacific Games.

The officials had a practical session at Ela Beach as part of their training. They were awarded with certificates of recognition after the completion of the course.

With the certificate, these technical officials have a chance to officiate Beach Volleyball in any Asian Beach Volleyball competition depending on their performance at the XV Pacific Games.
