Barras name team against Kenya

​The PNG Hebou Barramundis has named its squad last Friday for the for the ICC match against Kenya later this month.

The Barras will host Kenya at the Amini Park in Port Moresby for the first International Cricket Council (ICC) on the 28-30 of this month.

The 14-man squad will be led by Jack Vare with Assad Vala appointed his deputy.

Among the squad is Brisbane-based player Chad Soper of a mixed Milne Bay and Australian parentage. He was named after the trials.

Cricket PNG head coach Dipak Patel said the team is looking forward to another challenge against the strong Kenyan international team.

“Playing in ICC conditions is another huge challenge that we face against some tough and different opponents over with different formats in a short period of time.

“Our preparation has been ideal and I’m confident we will perform well after outstanding results in the recently-completed T20 matches in Australia at the beginning of the year,” said Patel.

The  PNG Hebou Barramundis team is; Vagi Boko, Jack Vare (captain), Asad Vala (vice-captain), Chad Soper, Mahuru Dai, Charles Amini jnr, Lega Siaka, John Boge Reva Norman Vanua, Pipi Raho, Vani Vagi Morea, Nosaina Pokana, Hiri Hiri and Alei Nau. Coach: John Ovia.
