Barras heads up despite losses

PNG Barramundis head coach, Dipak Patel says the team has a lot of work to do before the World Cup Qualifiers but remains upbeat and confident.

The Barras lost twice to the Netherlands, by five wickets in the first game and then by 85 runs in the second game in the World Cricket League Championship in the Netherlands this week.

“Though we had the opportunities to disallow the Netherlands to put further runs on the scorecard, it seems the lack of concentration paved the way for Netherlands to keep scoring.

“However the match has certainly put the boys in a greater position to gain experience to handle such teams  in the near future and we will definitely take that into consideration come July for the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Ireland and Scotland,” said Patel.

The Barras now look forward to the International Cricket Council T20 World Cup Qualifiers which will be held in Ireland and Scotland next month.
