Auditors group gets bank' backing

Bank South Pacific gave a gold sponsorship of K15, 000 to the Institute of Internal Auditors - Papua New Guinea (IIA - PNG) to host its annual conference.

The theme of the conference is; “managing emerging technology, through internal audit"and will be held from October 1st – 2nd.

“Internal audit plays a vital role in ensuring corporate governance, monitoring compliance with company policy and government regulation among other areas and it is paramount for auditors to be on par with best practice and technology to ply their trade,” said Priscilla Parimahi, BSP senior audit officer.

  Conference committee chairman Stotick Kaprangi, applauded BSP for its support.

“BSP has always played a leading role in supporting our work since 2005 and we are grateful.”

During the conference, local and international auditors will discuss ways to improve their ability to evaluate an organization’s operational risk and control frameworks.

“We want to enhance growth of IIA-PNG membership over the next few years by way of organizing conferences and workshops and we are also looking at getting all of members internationally recognized accreditation from IIA Australia,” said Kaprangi.

IIA - PNG financial members totalling 150 are expected to attend.
