Annual influx of parents at Divine Word Uni

Divine Word University in Madang will observe its 7th Commissioning Ceremony for the final year students and parents tomorrow with the theme “Core Values and Research underpin our search for quality”.

The commission ceremony is a planned annual event for DWU where final year students are presented with the DWU Cross as a sign of them being appreciated and sent out to the world as DWU servants fully equipped with ethics, skills and knowledge to change the world.

It is also the special moment where the parents are invited and thanked to witness and see the students being commissioned.

The Student Representative Council Commission ceremony team under the leadership of final year Rural Health student Edward Willie with the administration starts  registration of the final year students’ parents this morning.

The program will see all the parents registered and given a room in hotels and guest houses in Madang booked and paid for  by the school.

The parents will then have a barbecue with the students in the School Kibung area during lunch, and finally dinner in the evening with the students at the student mess.

The celebration tomorrow will start at 8:30 am in the SVD Memorial Auditorium with the Holy Eucharist celebration, followed by blessing and distribution of the pendants to the final year students witnessed  by their parents and guardians.

The parents, guardians and students will then have lunch and spend time with their children before the entertainment program in the afternoon.

The parents will leave on Saturday and are expected to come back in March 16, 2016 for the graduation.
