Ambum to Kompiam road to be sealed

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has launched the construction and sealing of the Ambum to Kompiam and Wabag Town Road Project in Enga Province.

Linking the picturesque Monokam Village in the Ambum valley, the road will serve the people of the Kompiam-Ambum district.

It will cost an estimated K32 million and will be funded by the National Government, with counterpart funding from the district’s K10 million District Services Improvement Program (DSIP).

Prime Minister O’Neill told thousands of people who gathered at the Ambum District that the time for talk from governments is well and truly over, as for the past five years. the National Government has been delivering on infrastructure promises.

“For nearly forty years we had elected governments who promised to deliver services, but the people have not seen those services.

“The Kompiam-Ambum electorate is like my Ialibu-Pangia District where roads are the key infrastructure for the people and improve their lives as well as being the major link to business.

“Businesses, particularly small businesses, need roads to get to markets.

“We have such great opportunity to create more jobs in our country and to produce more food.

“By building more infrastructure, we make it possible for more of our people to travel for school or to see family and friends.

“This and the many other roads we are building are advancing our country.

“That is why in 2011, when we changed the government, we promised to have a fair distribution of infrastructure and goods and services to all the districts throughout the country.”

The PM says PNG now has a stable government that is confident and focused on rural service delivery.

“I want you all to believe in this government’s policies on health and education as it is the future of our country."

PM O'Neill told the people that their local Member, John Pundari, has been pushing very hard for the Ambum Road Sealing project to get underway.

“He has been fighting hard for you to get this project done and completed and I thank him for his persistence and dedication to his people.”

The Ambum Road construction and sealing project from Monokam village to Takoas to Kompiam linking Wabag town will start early in the New Year.
