Alleged morgue sex man returns to court

The man alleged to have interfered with the corpse of a female at the Port Moresby General Hospital in October 2014 returned to the National court today (October 5).

Patrick Paul Kaulela 42, of Milne Bay Province was committed on April 26 this year to stand trial at the National Court.

Kaulela was represented by a lawyer from the Public Solicitors office but his lawyer was not present for the call over list.

He has since been instructed by the court to get his lawyer in court when the matter returns in November.

He was arrested and charged on October 29 last year after he attempted to sexually penetrate the corpse of a female on October 23 at the hospital lay out.

Working as a hospital porter (then) it is alleged that between 4pm and 11pm he attempted to sexually penetrate the corpse of a female deceased who was the victim of a hit and run accident at the Poreporena freeway.

Kaulela was charged under section 236(b) of the Criminal code for interfering with a corpse.
