Air Niugini welcomed to Vanuatu

​It was a mixture of feelings as the Air Niugini F100 taxied into the Bauerfield International Airport in Vanuatu, Port Vila today.

It's the first commercial flight. General manager Dominic Kaumu says the flight is a way to help the Melanesian Spearhead Group countries in the Pacific.

He said the flight will also help the people of Vanuatu and Solomon Island during the upcoming Pacific Games in Port Moresby.

 Onboard the flight include Air Niugini executive officers, National Airport Corporation staff, journalists and other passengers.

 Air Niugini will be operating a flight in a week to Port Vila via Anderson Airport in Solomon Islands. Meanwhile a lone passenger from Honiara to Port Vila Hellen Molea told PNG Loop that the Air Niugini flight will help the people of Vanuatu.

She said she was excited to be on the inaugural flight as the presence of Air Niugini will bring competion among the other airlines operating the same service.

Currently Solomon Air operates a weekly flight to Port Villa while Fiji Airlines make two flights in a week.
