Agiru was very humble: Sir Julius

​Former Prime Minister and New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan has described Hela Governor late Anderson Pawa Agiru as a humble leader who dedicated his life to serving the people of Hela and Papua New Guinea.

Sir Julius in a statement conveyed his sincere condolences to the family and people of Southern Highlands especially Hela on the untimely passing of Governor Anderson Agiru,  a friend and humble leader in government- who passed away yesterday morning, April 28.

“On behalf of the Government and the people of New Ireland, I extend our condolences and sympathy to the family of the Late Governor.

“Governor Agiru was a man who dedicated his life to serving the people of Hela and Papua New Guinea.

“It is with shock and sorrow that I learned of the passing of husband and Governor Anderson Aigiru, who I personally admired as an educated talented leader, always courteous, efficient and humble in spirit.

Sir Julius said the loss of a great leader such as Anderson, who always demonstrated passion for his people and potential as a national leader amongst his highlands regional counterparts. 

“His passing is an untimely loss to his family, his people in the Province and the Highlands Region, and Papua New Guinea.

“We are comforted in the knowledge that his time on earth made this a better place for us all. I know that his decency, his friendship and his good works will echo through time, to the benefit of all.
