Addressing Impact of Family Violence on Business

The Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in partnership with Digicel Play’s TVWAN and the Business Coalition for Women put together a panel discussion that went live on TVWAN on Wednesday.

The discussion topic was centred on family and sexual violence and explored the potential for the Business community, in partnership with other stakeholders to address this issue.

The panel discussion brought together self-esteemed group of business leaders and associated service providers to discuss on what the PNG business community is doing to address family and sexual violence in communities and the workplace.

Panelists were Chief Inspector Delilah Sandeka from the Boroko Family and Sexual Viloence Unit, Violet Aopi, HR Manager for NCS Group, PNG Femili Operations Manager Denga Ilave and PNG Origin CEO & Chairperson of the PNG Business Council for Women Lesieli Taviri.

The program targeted businesses who do not know or acknowledge the business rationale for addressing family and sexual violence and what they can do about it.

Questions were raised by the audience on the topic, to brush off the doubts and give clarity on the issues and where to get assistance.

The key areas of focus for  PNG Business Coalition For Women is to help businesses address the impacts of family and sexual violence  and through this reduce the time and costs businesses incur as a result of violence.
