ABG boss: don’t compare B’ville to others

Bougainville will remain unique and outstanding and mustn’t be compared with other countries who encountered a similar situation.

This is from the ABG Finance Minister and member for Motuna Huyona Tokonotui in Siwai, south Bougainville,  Albert Punghau.

As a member of the executive group in the Referendum workshop comprising of ministers, the finance minister said Bougainville will still maintain its uniqueness.

“I appeal to all my fellow honourable   members not to compare Bougainville with other countries who have encountered a situation similar to ours, do not especially, with weapons, do not compare Bougainville with the United States or Africa,” Mr  Punghau said.

“We will remain unique and we will do things the Bougainville way undisputed, we will remain outstanding and we will still create history no matter what.”

“Other countries had issues of their own completely different from ours here on Bougainville. We fought for freedom and our rights as indigenous Bougainvilleans. Therefore we must be intact and know who we are really.

“We are about to create world history as the first ever Autonomous Region to hold a referendum and that is part of being unique, do not be influenced by outside power, we are about to become powerful ourselves now,” he said.
